2003 - ACCAC, District & Southwest AVAC Coach of the Year

Entering her 12th year at Scottsdale Community College and her 10th season as Head Volleyball Coach, Regina Mannix is one of the most accomplished coaches and former players in Arizona.  Mannix began her career at Scottsdale as the Assistant Volleyball Coach, but quickly advanced to take the reins as Head Coach and the former Assistant Athletic Director.  During her past ten years as Head Coach, Mannix has produced several NJCAA All-Americans and multiple ACCAC Players of the Year.  In the 2001 season, SCC was the ACCAC Conference Co-Champions with a conference record of 16-2 and an overall season record of 33-11.  The season was also marked by Scottsdale's seventh straight playoff appearance.  The 2001 team had four players chosen to All-ACCAC Teams, one All-American, the ACCAC Player of the Year, two Academic All-Americans, and was an NJCAA Academic All American Team.  Mannix was also honored as the ACCAC Coach of the Year.

Mannix's prowess and accomplishments on the court in high school and college have formed the foundation for her coaching style.  Mannix grew up in Norwalk, California and attended Gahr High School in Cerritos, California.   While at Gahr, she played for renowned volleyball coach Brian Gimmillaro.   While still in high school, Mannix competed as a setter internationally in Finland, England and Russia.  In 1983, as a senior, Mannix was named C.I.F. Co-Player of the Year and was also named All-State.  She was also ranked in the 1984, Volleyball Magazine, "Fab Fifty" list.

In the fall of 1984, Mannix moved to Tempe, Arizona, where she received a scholarship to set for the Arizona State Sun Devils.   Mannix immediately stepped in as the teams starting setter.  During her freshman season at ASU, Mannix was named All-Tournament at the LSU Invitational Tournament and was Honorable Mention All-Conference in the WCAA.  In her sophomore year, Mannix was the MVP of the Roadrunner Invitational and was also Second Team All-Conference in the PacWest.  During this season and the following ('85 & '86), Mannix was asked to participate in two U.S. Olympic Sports Festivals; at which, she earned two silver medals.   During her junior season, in addition to the Festival competition, Mannix was also named the Co-MVP at the Husker Invitational Tournament and Second Team All-Conference in the Pac-10.  She was also honored as an All-Region selection and as a NCAA All-American.  In 1987, Mannix's senior season, she received an All-Region selection and was named First Team All-Conference in the Pac-10.

In addition to all of the honors compiled by Mannix in her four years at ASU, she currently holds nine records at the University.   Mannix holds three "Freshman Records" for aces in a season, aces in a match, and assists in a match.  She holds two "Single Match" records for assists per match and aces per match.  She has two "Single Season" records for assists in a season and aces in a season.  And she holds two "Career" records for total career assists and total career aces.  Complimenting these university records, Mannix also currently holds four Pac-10 records.  She has the third most career assists in Pac 10 history with 5,180 assists.  She also holds the third position in Pac-10 history for the most assists in a single match with 90 assists.  In addition to her accomplishments setting, Mannix is also ranked second in Pac-10 history in career service aces with 178 aces.  She also holds the second place Pac 10 record for service aces in a single match with 9 aces.

Mannix graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science in Justice Administration and received her Masters in Counseling in the summer of 2001.  Mannix also has two daughters, Riley and McKenna, with her husband Brian.
