Pope Leads
SCC Women's Tennis to NJCAA Region I Championship: Sophomore
Natalie Pope was named the Region I Tournament MVP after leading
the Artichokes to their first Region I Championship. Pope was joined
by Kristy Pechous, Jamie Raun, and Paige Schottler on the NJCAA
All-Region First Team while teammate Amber Lyon earned Second Team
All-Region honors. The doubles teams of Pope/Schottler, Pechous/Raun
and Lyon/Sarah Mueller were all named First Team All-Region.

Pope Selected
ACCAC Player of the Year: Nadia Pope continued
her perfect season by being named the ACCAC's Player of the Year.
Pope, a sophomore from Franklin High School, went 12-0 in the reglar
season at #1 singles and was also perfect playing #1 doubles.

Dominating
Artichokes Dominate ACCAC Awards: After going
12-0 in the regular season, Scottsdale's women's tennis team placed
five players on the ACCAC All-Conference Singles Teams and all three
doubles teams were selected All-ACCAC. Nadia Pope, the 2006 ACCAC
Player of the Year, was First Team at #1 singles, Kristy Pechous
was First Team at #2 singles, Jamie Raun was First Team at #3 singles,
Paige Schottler was First Team at #4 singles and Amber Lyon was
named Second Team at #5 singles. The doubles teams of Pope and Schottler
and Pechous and Raun were selected First Team All-ACCAC at #1 and
#2 doubles respectively. Lyon and Sarah Mueller were selected Second
Team All-Conference at #3 doubles.

SCOTTSDALE
FALLS TWICE TO GLENDALE: Scottsdale jumped
out to a 3-0 lead in the opener but lost a 10-9 slugfest to Glendale.
The Gauchos then swept the ACCAC series by a 7-3 score in game two.

ARTICHOKES
SWEEP GATEWAY: Scottsdale scored a 10-0 and
6-2 sweep of a two-game series with GateWay Community College. The
'Chokes' TJ Macy and Chris Neary combined for the shutout victory
on the mound in the opener while Steve Gray paced the offense wiuth
a pair of triples and four RBI. In game two, Brandon Pullen allowed
just two hits over six innings for the victory. | Game

SCOTTSDALE
EARNS SPLIT WITH MESA: The Artichokes split
an ACCAC home-and-home series this past weekend against Mesa with
each squad winning on its home turf. Mesa opened the series with
a 14-6 win, scoring six runs in the first inning and adding five
more in the sixth. The 'Chokes gained the split with a 5-2 win in
game two. With the game tied entering the bottom of the seventh,
Bryce Lefebvre hit a solo homer in the bottom of the inning for

SCC COMPLETES
SWEEP OF ACCAC SERIES OVER PHOENIX: Trailing
4-2 entering the seventh inning, Scottsdale exploded for six runs
and cruised to a 9-5 ACCAC victory over Phoenix College to sweep
the ACCAC weekend home-and-home series. Phil Ortez, Bryce Lefebvre
and Steve Gray had RBI singles in the seventh to lead the Artichokes.

EXPLODES FOR 19-1 WIN OVER PHOENIX: While
Colby Wark was pitching a complete game victory, his Scottsdale
teammates were pounding out 18 hits and scoring 19 runs in the ACCAC
win. Six SCC players recorded multi-hit games. | More

Artichokes
Complete Regular Season Undefeated: Scottsdale
completed the 2006 regular season with a perfect 12-0 record and
haave now won its last 26 regular season contests. The squad will
now travel to Temple, Texas, to compete in the Southwest JUCO Tennis
Tournament in an effort to obtain seeding for the NJCAA National
Championship..

'Chokes
Defeat South Mountain Twice: Scottsdale scored
a 3-2 and 4-0 doubleheader sweep on the road at ACCAC foe South
Mountain. Leah Fineman picked up the victory in game one.while Jackie
Beener pitched the complete game.
