

SCC Wins Again
The SCC volleyball team provided fans and spectators
to a thrilling match last night in its home gym, defeating Chandler-Gilbert
3-1 by game scores of 30-26, 30-27, 27-30, and 30-24.
In the first two games, Katie Luna wowed the crowd
with her athletic kills. After a slow start in the third game
and trailing by more than ten points, the Artichokes rallied back
to bring the game within two points. They were not able to capitalize
on the comeback, losing game three 27-30. But, they were able
to turn the energy of he comeback into a swift start of game four.
Shannon Fox rejected several attempts by Chandler-Gilbert
hitters with her blocking. She also demonstrated her skills as
a strong hitter with several kills down the middle. Shauna Nieman
added excitement to the match with her decisive kills from the
outside during games three and four.
With the win, SCC improves its ACCAC record to 9-1
and the overall record to 22-3. The artichokes are ranked #2 nationally
and are tied with Glendale atop the ACCAC.
SCC travels to Prescott on Wednesday to compete
against Yavapai.
