The annual Arizona Choreography Competition is open to all Arizona college, university and professional choreographers in all styles and genres of dance. Sponsored by a Maricopa Center for Learning and Instruction Grant, the Arizona Choreography Competition was conceived by Patricia Bodell and Lenna DeMarco to support and encourage quality choreography in the state of Arizona. Prize money awarded in the professional division is $1000 and $600 for the student division.Two winners are chosen in each division. In addition to the cash award, each choreographer will set their work and see it fully produced on either SCC's company dancers or GCC's Physical Graffitti. Entries for each year's competition is by video only. The work submitted can be an existing piece or example of past work with the intention of choreographing a new work on the SCC or GCC dancers.
