1) Biostatistics Lecture Notes; Introduction to Anova 2) Biostatistics Lecture Notes; ANOVA Theory 3) Biostatistics, Chapter 1 (Nagy et al.) This is the first chapter of a biostatistics text that Rob Cutler, Kim Cooper and I are preparing for release in 2007. It's incomplete; specifically, the exercises are not appended. However, it will lay the foundation of what we will be doing later in the course when it comes time for us to design our own studies. 4) On Being a Research Scientist Published by the National Academy of Sciences among other National Academies, this report lays down many of the ethical foundations of scientific research. It is written by the Committee on Science, Engineering and Public Policy, whoever they are. (The members are in fact listed on page iii of the booklet.) This link takes you to the NAS Publications site from where you can buy a complete copy for a small fee or simply download it for free page by page. 5) Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomed Journals This document is one of the best expressions of the expectations the scientific community has for its authors, reviewers and editors. The guidelines apply to far more than just biomedical journals. 6) American Mathematical Society Ethics Guidelines This link takes you to the AMS Ethical Guidelines page. This document is much more concise, and not as complete, as the previous link, but like it, these guidelines apply beyond mathematical research. 7) AAAS Scientific Integrity Program Although this website is not required reading, it is a gateway to high-quality web resources that will help you interpret the other readings.
